The BME RC training programs are based on the Progressive Training philosophy of Head Coach, Dr. Darcy Strouse.  The main tenet of this philosophy is that distance running training for all ages, and, in particular youth runners (up to age 18) and new runners, is that training should be developmental and  gently progressive. Strength and aerobic fitness should be developed before more advanced training takes place.

Quality of training is emphasized over quantity in order to provide a healthy platform for future growth and development in the sport of distance running.

In regards to training for youth, age-group training is geared toward the developmental age of the athlete and takes into considering the growing child (e.g., bone growth, progression in muscle development, male and female maturational changes, developmental changes in self-esteem and self-concept).
